Africa-Press – Nigeria. The Nigerian Police has presented cheques worth over N110 million to the families of 33 deceased officers.

The cheques, issued on behalf of the Inspector General of Police, Olukayode Egbetokun, are part of the IGP Family Welfare and Group Life Assurance Schemes usually presented to the next of kin of deceased officers.

Presenting the cheques to the beneficiaries at the command headquarters in Asaba, Commissioner of Police Wale Abass expressed his appreciation for the IGP’s generosity.

He stated that the cheques will help the families tremendously and serve as a reminder that the sacrifices their loved ones made can never be forgotten.

“We acknowledged the deep sense of concern of the IGP, especially for the well-being of the officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force.

“The Police Force is relentless in its welfare scheme for its personnel, as it will not back down on the initiative, especially for all deceased officers who sacrificed their lives fighting for the peace and progress of the country,” he said.

The police boss admonished the beneficiaries to make good use of the money given to them.

One of the beneficiaries, Isioma Francisca Ogabu, the next of kin of the late Inspector Ogabu Ndidi, who spoke on behalf of others, thanked the IGP for the gesture and promised to make judicious use of the money.
