Africa-Press – Nigeria. The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, on Saturday said he and his supporters stood firm and voted President Bola Tinubu when it was tough.

Wike noted that those that are now supporting Tinubu were nowhere to be found when he and his followers backed the President in the last presidential election.

He spoke during a thanksgiving service organized by the former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Chibudom Nwuche, in Ochigba, Ahoada East Local Government Area of Rivers State.

Wike’s comment is coming less than one month after Governor Sim Fubara defected from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Fubara defected after he resumed office following his six months suspension by the President due to political crisis in the state.

Wike said: “When it was tough for people to say ‘On Your Mandate we Stand,’ we stood firm and said on your mandate we stand and to the glory of God we stood. And on your mandate we stand today is very strong.

“So you are the ones who made the mandate to be very strong as far as Rivers State is concerned. So all these people you see now saying on your mandate we stand that time when they were needed most they couldn’t sing that, they couldn’t come out to say vote for Tinubu.

“Now that you stood and voted for him and Rivers State won, I tell you that all your struggles will not go in vain.

“Nigerians know us that when we take a decision, we have taken a decision, we don’t take decisions based on what people are seeing but we take decisions because we are convinced that this would happen.”
