Africa-Press – Nigeria. The fifth wife of the late Alayemore Olojudo of Ido-Osun, Oba Tajudeen Aderemi Adedapo, Olori Adeola Adedapo, has petitioned the Osun State Police Command, alleging threats to her life and that of her son by some members of the royal family.

Olori Adeola demanded the arrest of the late monarch’s first daughter, Dolapo Adedapo, and his fourth wife, Olori Zainab Adedapo, over the alleged threats.

In the petition submitted through her counsel, Okobe Najite, Olori Adeola stated that she was universally acknowledged by palace chiefs and other royal wives as the fifth wife of the late ruler.

She noted that she lived with the monarch until his death on May 17, 2024 and later gave birth to their son, Prince Idris Aderemi Adedapo, on December 8, 2024.

According to family accounts, the late monarch had earlier separated from his first wife, mother of Dolapo, before marrying Adeola as his fifth wife.

The late king’s younger brother, Alhaji Sulaiman Angulu, said the family had been paying N50,000 monthly to Adeola for the upkeep of young Prince Idris as confirmation of the monarch’s responsibility for the pregnancy.

Angulu explained that proceeds from the sale of some properties had recently been shared among all five wives and their children, with each receiving over N14 million.

He said the current dispute began after Adeola and her son were allegedly denied their full entitlement of about N30 million, which he claimed was withheld by Dolapo in collaboration with Olori Zainab.

The petition alleged that properties worth N250 million, located in the GRA area of Oke-Fia, Osogbo, were sold and the proceeds kept by Dolapo.

It stated, “It is rooted in tradition that since the king died intestate, properties and other accrued inheritance have to be shared equally among his wives.”

Adeola’s counsel wrote, “According to our client, acres of land and other properties were sold recently and the proceeds of the sale were kept in the custody of the child of the first wife, Dolapo Adedapo. It is to be noted that the late king had separated from the mother of Dolapo long before the demise of the king.”

It was learnt that the current Alayemore Olojudo of Ido-Osun, Oba Olayinka Jokotola, Ilufemiloye I, has been briefed on the matter to ensure that no wife or child of the late monarch is denied their rightful share.

Sources said the royal family had been urged to maintain fairness in the distribution of inheritance.

The Osun State Police Department has confirmed the development and revealed that its X-Squad Unit is handling the case.

Making the revelation in a phone call with DAILY POST on Friday, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi disclosed that investigations were ongoing.

He said, “the petition was indeed submitted to the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Gotan’s office and the X-Sqauad was assigned to investigate it and investigation is still on.

“Some of the Oloris are based abroad which is somehow making investigation hard but I can assure you that investigation is still ongoing.”

The Osun Police spokesperson added that the current Alayemore Olojudo of Ido-Osun,Oba Olayinka Jokotola denied knowledge the affair.

He said, “the current Alayemore Olojudo of Ido-Osun said he is not aware of the situation. He told me that those that came up with such should come out and substantiate it.”
