Africa-Press – Nigeria. Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have successfully repelled a bandit attack on commuters and rescued five victims along the Sabon Gida–Anguwan Rogo axis in Gusau Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

Security sources said the incident occurred at about 8:25 pm on March 29 when troops of 1 Brigade Counter-Terrorism Unit 2, deployed at Forward Operating Base Sabon Garin, responded to reports of the attack.
According to the sources, the troops engaged the bandits in a firefight, forcing them to withdraw and abandoning five victims, including one who sustained gunshot wounds.
The sources added that the troops recovered the corpse of one victim at the scene, which was subsequently handed over to relatives.
The injured victim was evacuated to a medical facility for treatment.
Troops have maintained a heightened presence in the area to prevent further attacks and ensure the safety of residents.
