Africa-Press – Nigeria. Former Manchester United star, Wayne Rooney, has said that his former teammate, Cristiano Ronaldo, will not retire from football until he reaches the historic milestone of 1,000 career goals.
According to him, the 40-year-old Portuguese would only consider retirement after achieving that feat.
The Portugal international is currently on 950 goals as he closes in on the milestone. He presently plays for Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr and has not retired from the Portugal national team.
“One hundred per cent, he’s not retired before he’s scored one thousand,” Rooney, who played alongside Cristiano Ronaldo in Manchester United’s attack, said.
“It’d be great for him as well if he does that and I’m sure over the next couple of years he’ll be playing with his son alongside him, so I think that’s a big thing as well for him.”
Rooney and Ronaldo were two key players at Manchester United under Sir Alex Ferguson. Both men won three Premier League titles together, as well as the Champions League in 2008.
