Africa-Press – Rwanda. The Rwanda Defence Force (RDF) has announced the arrest of two of its officers along with 20 civilians in connection with alleged misuse of public funds.
In a statement issued on August 5, the RDF disclosed that all suspects are currently under detention as the Military Prosecution pursues charges against them.
The alleged crimes include complicity in receiving and issuing unauthorized documents, as well as the misappropriation of public funds, specifically, using them for purposes other than originally intended.
“The charges stem from the illegal purchase of airline tickets using funds from the Ministry of Defence account,” reads part of the RDF statement.
According to the RDF, in line with the law, civilians who commit crimes in collaboration with military personnel are prosecuted by the Military Prosecution and tried in Military Courts.
