Africa-Press – Rwanda. Forward Aziz Bassane scored the decisive goal as Rayon Sports earned a 1-0 victory over Marines FC in a Rwanda Premier League match played on Sunday, November 2 at Umuganda Stadium.
Bassane’s finish from a tight angle in the 81st minute, assisted by Gloire Tambwe, secured all three points for the Blues, keeping them second on the table with 13 points, three behind leaders Police FC.
It was Bassane’s second goal of the season, having also found the net in Rayon Sports’ 3-1 win over Rutsiro FC earlier in the campaign.
Rayon Sports dominated the encounter from start to finish and could have won by a larger margin, but they failed to capitalise on several clear chances. The supporters were vocal during the match, urging their team forward, while Yves Rwasamanzi’s Marines struggled to convert the few opportunities they created.
The result marks Rayon Sports’ third consecutive victory after a slow start to the season, during which they failed to secure maximum points in their opening three fixtures.
With five minutes remaining, Aziz Bassane was substituted and replaced by defender Emery Bayisenge.
In another match played on Sunday, Gicumbi FC held Etincelles FC to a 1-1 draw.
