Africa-Press – Rwanda. Members of the National Paralympic Committee (NPC) in Rwanda on Saturday, November 8, elected Dominique Bizimana as the president for a four-year term until 2029.

The election, which took place at Classic Hotel, left Bizimana given the nod to return to the top position he previously held between 2001 and 2012.

Bizimana received 21 votes out of 40 members.

“It’s an honor to be trusted again. Together with my newly elected committee, we are going to work with transparency,” said Bizimana.

His predecessor Murema expressed heartfelt gratitude for the collaboration with his committee throughout his time in service.

“This past year, the existing committee and I achieved significant progress in development. What I’m most proud of is that our board members gained a deeper understanding of their responsibilities. Since 2017, discipline has also greatly improved, allowing athletes to fully showcase their talents,” Murema said.

He urged the incoming committee to lead with teamwork and encourage members to think innovatively while embracing accountability.
