Africa-Press – Rwanda. Kenya came from behind to beat Rwanda 2-1 in the second group stage match of the CECAFA U17 at Abebe Bikila Stadium in Addis Ababa on Friday, November 21. The win blew Rwanda’s chances of qualifying for the 2026 AFCON U17.

Nicholas Ochola came off the bench in the second half to inspire the Kenyans to the comeback victory over Sosthene Habimana’s side which is yet to win a single match at the tournament.

Rwanda broke the deadlock in the 35th minute from a counter attack when Daniel Mugunga received the ball in the left wing space before setting up Oliver Nshimiyimana who send the ball into the net.

Ochola leveled for Kenya in the 68th minute, capitalizing on Rwanda’s defensive errors in the box, before Armstrong Omondi then scored the match winner in the 77th minute to grab all three point of the game.

Kenya have now moved in second place with four points, two points behind Group A leaders Ethiopia who have their two matches in the group stage. The hosts will play their third game against South Sudan on Monday, November 24, while Rwanda, who remain at the bottom of the group without a single point, will face Somalia on the same day.
