Africa-Press – Rwanda. Al Ahli Tripoli defender Thierry Manzi has expressed his delight after his goal helped Al Ahli Tripoli clinch 2024-2025 Libya Premier League title.

The Rwandan international scored the opening goal through a powerful header before Hamdou Elhouni added the second as the Tripoli-based side beat rivals Al-Ahly Benghazi 2-0 at Città di Meda Stadium in Italy on Tuesday, August 12, to be crowned champions.

“The first target was to win the match and lift the title but scoring a goal was my best moment. Scoring against our main opponent was very nice to me,” Manzi told Times Sport.

“I can’t hide my satisfaction with the way we won the game. We have achieved our target, then we can relax a little bit, and set ourselves other targets for the CAF Champions League,” he added.

“This victory was important for us and for our fans and beating rival is something we have to cherish and players and in team in general” Manzi added

Manzi, 29, previously played youth football at Isonga FC before syarting his career at senior level at Marines FC, Rayon Sports and APR FC and AS Kigali in Rwanda as well as AS FAR in Morocco among others.

He currently plays with countryman and his national team captain Bizimana Djihad at Al Ahli Tripoli.

They are now set to play Champions League football with the Libyan champions while runners-up Al Ahly Benghazi will play the CAF Confederation Cup.
