Africa-Press – Rwanda. Nick Barigye was appointed as the new Deputy Governor of the National Bank of Rwanda on Thursday, July 24.

Barigye, 48, replaces Justin Nsengiyumva, who was appointed the new Prime Minister on Wednesday.

He will deputise Soraya Hakuziyaremye, who became governor in February.

A finance and investments professional

Barigye goes to the central bank barely 10 days after he was appointed the Chief Executive of Crystal Ventures Ltd (CVL). Before CVL, the seasoned executive headed Rwanda Finance Limited, the company behind the Kigali International Financial Centre (KIFC).

Before his six-year stint at the helm of Rwanda Finance, Barigye was the Managing Partner of Karisimbi Business Partners, an Africa-focused investment and advisory firm from 2015 to 2019.

Before that role, he was the CEO of Mount Meru Soyco Ltd, a subsidiary of Mount Meru Group that manufactures cooking oil and soap.

But Barigye was not new to CVL, because spent held various roles at the company between 2008 and 2014, including Senior Investment Analyst, Group Operations Officer. He went on to work with different CVL subsidiaries, including being the Finance and Administration Manager at Inyange Industries, and Deputy General Manager of the engineering and construction company NPD Ltd.

Barigye holds an MBA in Strategic Management from Strathmore Business School in Kenya and a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from the National University of Rwanda.
