Africa-Press – Rwanda. Rayon Sports interim coach Haruna Ferouz has expressed confidence as his team prepares to face APR FC on Saturday, November 8 in the Rwanda Premier League derby.

Ferouz, who took charge of the team following the suspension of head coach Afhamia Lotfi last month, spoke to reporters after the team’s final training session at Nzove on Thursday afternoon.

“I’ve experienced several derby matches, both as a player and as a coach. These games are always intense, but I’m used to the atmosphere,” said the Burundian tactician. “The players are in good shape and mentally ready,” he noted.

Rayon Sports will be boosted by the return of Chris Rushema and Abed Bigirimana, who recently rejoined the squad. However, forwards Fall Ngagne and Asman Ndikumana are unlikely to feature, as they are not yet fully fit.

Ferouz noted that the team has prepared well and looks forward to giving its supporters a strong performance. “Our fans always turn up in large numbers, and we’ll do our best to deliver a good game,” he added.

Rayon Sports currently sits second in the league with 13 points after three consecutive wins. Police FC leads the table with 16 points, while APR FC is eighth with eight points but has two games in hand.

Meanwhile, Kelly Abraham and Mike Habinshuti have been appointed as Secretary General and Vice President of Rayon Sports to fill the gap of the two committee members who resigned.

Kelly previously served as Rayon Sports Secretary General in 2020, while Habinshuti was previously the leader of the fans club. They replace Roger Aimable Ngoga and Patrick Rukundo.
