Africa-Press – Rwanda. Rwanda Aquatics Federation (RAF) president Cynthia Munyana has reiterated commitment to raise the level of swimming around capacity building in officiating.

Over 30 Rwandan aquatics referees and coaches concluded a four-day technical clinic in Kigali over the weekend, during which

The clinic, the first of its kind since Munyana took over the reins in August 2024 was

organised in collaboration with Africa Aquatics, mainly focusing on both competition officiating and event management software.

The session was instructed by Maximillian Kanyerezi, a certified expert from World Aquatics and Africa Aquatics.

During the sessions, Kanyerezi took participants through international standards for planning, managing, and evaluating aquatic events.

Munyana vowed that the federation will organise more clinics of sort so that Rwanda can start produce referees who can officiate swimming events in the region which has not been the case in the past years.

“This is a strong foundation in our journey to build technical excellence. Today Rwanda has gained a significant number of trained officials ready to elevate our sport both national and regionally,” she stated.

“With these kinds of clinics in swimming officiating, Rwandan aquatics has a bright future. We may not have officials for regional competitions, but I am confident that we can start have a number of them who can start officiating in regional competitions next year if things remain at this pace,” she added.

“Rwanda is showing a strong will to build professional governance in aquatics. I’m happy to work with passionate officials eager to learn. And I am confident that the participants, through this clinic, were equipped to lead and support competitions of high standards,” he said.
