Africa-Press – Rwanda. Riders aged between 17 and 19 years are up for yet another stiff battle at the second edition of the Rwanda Junior Tour which will take place from Friday, August 15 to Sunday, August 17, across four districts in the Northern Province–Gasabo, Rulindo, Gakenke, and Musanze.

The three-day race is designed to prepare participants for longer multi-stage events, such as the Tour du Rwanda and the upcoming 2025 UCI Road World Championship which will take place in September.

The opening stage on Friday, August 15, will cover 90 km, starting at 1pm from Batsinda in Gasabo, passing through Gasanze, Nyacyonga, Marenge, Rukomo, Gicumbi, and Tetero before finishing at Base in Rulindo.

On Saturday, August 16, riders will tackle the second stage, a 51.9 km route starting at 11 amfrom Nyirangarama to Kinigi Market, passing through Base, Gakenke, Buranga, Kivuruga, Musanze, and INES Ruhengeri. Later that day at 3pm, the Women’s Criterium will take place in Kinigi, featuring Juniors, Under 23, and Elite riders.

The final day, Sunday, August 17, will start at 9am. with the Rwanda Youth Racing Cup in Musanze, featuring boys and girls aged 11–17 years, competing at Avenue Mikeno in Kizungu. The closing stage of the Junior Tour will follow at 2 pm, with cyclists completing 12 laps around Musanze town, in a distance of 73.2 km.

In preparation for the event, the Rwanda National Police has announced temporary road closures along the race routes in the four districts. Roads will reopen shortly after the cyclists pass through the designates itinerary.
