RwandAir Cancels Flights to Doha and Dubai

Africa-Press – Rwanda. RwandAir said on Monday, June 23, it had suspended its flights to Doha, the capital of Qatar, after the Gulf country temporarily close its airspace amid fears that the conflict between Iran, Israel and the United States could threaten regional security.

The same development has led the national carrier to also suspend flighs to and from Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, which like Qatar, is located in the Gulf region.

“Due to the closure of Qatar’s airspace, our flights WB300/WB303 to and from Doha on June 23 and 24, 2025, have been cancelled,” the airline said in a statement.

“In light of the evolving situation and for the safety of our passengers and crew, flights to and from Dubai have also been cancelled.”

RwandAir said passengers who are affected by the changes can reschedule their tickets for a later date.

Doha has the busiest airport in the Middle East, the Hamad International Airport.

Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement on Monday that the decision to close the airspace was made to protect citizens, residents and visitors to the international city.

The decision came after the US State Department told American citizens in international locations to “exercise increased caution,” after the US bombed three nuclear sites in Iran on Saturday. Iran has threatened to retaliate.

Media reports said there could be a threat to the US-run Coalition Air Operations Centre at Al-Udaid in Qatar.

Qatar said “the security and safety of everyone on Qatari soil remains a top priority, and that the State will not hesitate to take all necessary preventive and protective measures in this regard.”

Dubai is one of the busiest routes for RwandAir, where it has for years maintained a daily flight.
