Africa-Press – Rwanda. Rwandan international referee Alice Umutesi is among the referees selected to officiate in the 2025 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup which will take place in Morocco from October 17 to November 8.

Umutesi was handed the opportunity to serve as an assistant referee at the tournament after impressing at the just-concluded Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) 2024 in Morocco.

Umutesi is the twin sister of Aline Umutoni, also an international referee.

The two carry Rwanda proudly on their shoulders, not as a cross to bear, but as a beautiful badge of honour. As the only set of twin referees in a major continental tournament in recent memory, they represent a profound national and symbolic significance.

In general, a total of 54 referees, including 18 center referees and 36 assistant referees, were selected to officiate the FIFA Women’s U17 World Cup 2025.

Holders North Korea are the most decorated country in the tournament with three titles.
