Africa-Press – Rwanda. As the weekend approaches, sports enthusiasts across Rwanda are looking for where to hang out. Among other key events, the long-awaited Rwanda Classico between Rayon Sports and title holders APR FC is set to take place on Saturday.

However, that’s not the only sporting spectacle in town. Times Sport has rounded up a few events for fans to check out this weekend.

1. New volleyball gymnasium set to debut in Kigali

The fourth round of the 2025/26 Rwanda National Volleyball League (RNVL) will see the unveiling of a brand-new indoor gymnasium in Kigali.

Tipping off this Friday, November 7, volleyball fans can look forward to the inaugural match at Saint Joseph le Travailleur TSS, located in Muhima sector. The event begins with a women’s fixture between East Africa University Rwanda (EAUR) and APR WVC at 6pm.

The new facility becomes the fourth indoor arena to host volleyball games in Rwanda, joining Petit Stade, Gisagara Gymnasium, and Kirehe Gymnasium, which is currently undergoing final renovation works.

2. Rwanda Classico: APR FC vs Rayon Sports

Defending champions APR FC will face fierce rivals Rayon Sports in what promises to be a thrilling Rwanda Classico, the first since the 2025/26 football season kicked off.

The much-anticipated clash is scheduled for Saturday, November 8, at 3 pm at Amahoro Stadium.

Before that, Police FC will face AS Kigali this Friday, opening matchday seven of the league. Other exciting fixtures include Gasogi United vs Mukura Victory Sports, making it a weekend full of football action.

3. Kigali Fight Night

After the recent Professional Fighters League semifinals in Kigali, boxing fans are in for another treat as the Kigali Fight Night comes to the spotlight.

The event will take place on Saturday, November 8, at Zaria Court, featuring elite fighters from seven countries: Nigeria, Tanzania, Cameroon, Gabon, Kenya, DR Congo, and host nation Rwanda, battling it out in a one-day championship showdown.
