Africa-Press – Rwanda. The cabinet meeting chaired by President Paul Kagame on January 17, saw the appointments of different officials in the Ministry of Trade and Industry and King Faisal Hospital, among other governmental institutions.
In the trade ministry, appointments include Christian Twahirwa, Director General of Industry and Entrepreneurship, Doreen Ntawebasa Hategekimana, Director General of Trade and Investment, Moses Twesigye Turatsinze, Director General of Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation, and Cassien Karangwa, Value Chain Sector Analyst.
In the same ministry, the cabinet appointed Fred Mugabe as Industrial Policy Analyst, Alphonse Kwizera as Made in Rwanda Business Analyst, Diane Mahoro Umutoni asTrade Policy Analyst, and Pacifique Mugwaneza as Cooperative Policy Analyst.
The cabinet also approved new officials at King Faisal Hospital, with Edgar Kalimba appointed the Deputy Chief Executive Officer in charge of Medical Services, and a new board of directors chaired by Thierry Kalisa deputised by Natalie McCall.
The board members include Israel Bimpe, Sanctus Musafiri, Regis Hitimana, Flora Nsinga, Theogene Maniragaba, Jeannette Rwigamba, and Natacha Butera.
At the Gender Monitoring Office, Agnes Muhongerwa was appointed Deputy Chief Gender Monitor in charge of gender-based violence.
Edward Kadozi was also named the new Director General of Higher Education Council, replacing Rose Mukankomeje who was serving since 2019.
Flora Mutezigaju is the new Deputy Director General of Rwanda Basic Education Board (REB) and Carlene Seconde Umutoni is the new Deputy Director General of the National Examination and School Inspection Authority (NESA)
The cabinet also approved new appointments at the Chamber of Deputies, including Augustin Mico who was named the Director General of Parliamentary Committees Management, Donata Mukamurenzi, Director General of Legislative, Procedural and Translation services, and Jean de Dieu Uwitonze, Director General of Parliamentary and Research Analysis.
At the Chamber of Deputies, Christine Uwimbabazi was named Economic Policy Analyst, Léopold Ringuyeneas, Economic Policy Analyst, Olivier Rubibi, Social and Governance Policy Analyst, and Viviane Gakire Kabeho, Social and Governance Policy Analyst.
New envoys to Rwanda
The cabinet also approved the appointment of seven representatives of countries, and international organisations to Rwanda.
These include Khalid Musa Dafalla, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of the Sudan, Alfredo Dombe, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Angola, Dr. Habib Gallus Kambanga, High Commissioner, with residences in Kigali, and Zabavy François-Xavier, Ambassador Extraordinary Plenipotentiary of Côte d’Ivoire, with residence in Kinshasa.
Ilyas All Hassan, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Somalia, with residence in Dar es Salaam, António José Nunes de Azevedo, Honorary Consul of Portugal to Rwanda, as well as Wilhemina M. E. van de Wiel, UNICEF Representative to Rwanda.
New pension, health policies approved
The statement also entails the cabinet approval of the Presidential Order increasing pension and occupational hazards benefits granted by Rwanda Social Security Board, as well as the expansion of package of services and additional financing sources for the community-based health insurance (CBHI) and the revision of health services tariffs.
Furthermore, the Prime Minister’s Order establishing special statute governing Correctional Officers was also approved.
