Africa-Press – Rwanda. A delegation of students from Nigeria’s National Institute for Security Studies is in Rwanda for a study tour aimed at deepening their understanding of regional security dynamics and drawing lessons from Rwanda’s experience in managing non-state actors, the Rwanda Defence Force (RDF) said on its X post, Tuesday, June 17.
The visiting group, according to the RDF, is part of their ongoing Executive Intelligence Management Course. The course focuses on developing high-level security intelligence professionals and senior managers.
It is designed to address emerging challenges to national security and development while equipping participants with skills in intelligence gathering, analysis, and management, within the context of national and regional issues.
Col François Regis Gatarayiha, the Head of the Defence Intelligence Department in the (RDF) briefed the Nigerian delegation about non-state actors and security management in Africa, highlighting the challenges and prospects for peace and development.
“The course is intended to enable the participants examine issues of non-state actors as they relate to security, economy and how the dynamics are being managed in Rwanda,” the RDF said.
Rwanda and Nigeria have been working together to strengthen security in various aspects. Students from the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) previously visited Rwanda National Police (RNP) to learn on how security has contributed to the development of agriculture in Rwanda.
