Africa-Press – Rwanda. Rwanda and Cambodia have signed two agreements aimed at boosting cooperation.
The signing took place on November 18 as Prime Minister Justin Nsengiyumva met with Prak Sokhonn, Cambodia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister, who is on a visit to Rwanda.
Their meeting ended with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on bilateral consultations, and a visa-free arrangement for holders of diplomatic and service passports.
Their discussions focused on strengthening bilateral relations between Rwanda and Cambodia, and on the 46th Ministerial Conference of La Francophonie in Kigali.
Cambodia is a southeast Asian nation, bordering Thailand, Laos, and Vietnam. It is famous for its beautiful beaches and islands, lush landscapes, unique Khmer cuisine, and its beautiful capital city of Phnom Penh, which features a mix of colonial and modern architecture.
Nsengiyumva and Sokhonn also talked about the 46th Ministerial Conference of La Francophonie, set for November 19-20 in Kigali. The Prime Minister also congratulated Cambodia as it prepares to assume the Presidency of the Francophonie bloc.
Rwanda and Cambodia have a notable point of connection, which is their shared dark history of genocide.
Cambodia suffered the genocide perpetrated by the Khmer Rouge in the late 1970s, while Rwanda suffered the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.
