Africa-Press – Rwanda. Amavubi head coach Adel Amrouche has reflected on the lessons learned from the team’s two recent friendly matches against Algeria, both of which ended in 2-0 defeats.
“We have learned a lot from these two games, we have seen the level of some players,” he said.
“There is still a lot that needs to be changed, and we need to correct mistakes,” he added.
He noted that there were gaps in physicality, technical ability, and game understanding between Rwandan players and their Algerian counterparts.
He expressed concern that some players are not yet at the level required for top international competitions and reiterated.
He acknowledged that though some improvement can come from the national team coaching staff, much of the development must happen within the clubs.
With four games under his belt as Amavubi head coach, Amrouche has lost three and drawn one.
Amavubi is now preparing for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Nigeria and Zimbabwe, scheduled for September 2025.
