Africa-Press – Rwanda. FIBA Africa has awarded APR women basketball club a wildcard for the 2024 Women’s Basketball Africa League which will take place in Dakar, Senegal.

The competition, scheduled for December 6-15, will bring together top African women’s clubs to vie for continental glory.

APR had failed to qualify for the continental competition after finishing in third place at the Zone V qualifiers that took place in Zanzibar last month. With the development, Rwanda will be represented by two teams at the continental showpiece. REG had booked the ticket after reaching the final of the Zone V qualifiers.

System of Competition

Twelve (12) clubs will participate in this competition. They will be divided into two groups of six (6) teams each.

The clubs will compete in their group in a round-robin system. The top four ranked teams in each group will qualify for the quarters finals while teams ranked 5th will play classification games (9th – 10th place).

The four winners of the quarter finals will qualify for the semi-finals while the four losers in the same stage will play classification games (4th – 8th place).

Two semifinals winners will play in the final and the two losers in the last four will play a classification game (3rd- 4th place).
