Rayon Sports 1-0 Amagaju
Rayon Sports defeated Amagaju FC 1-0 in a tightly contested Rwanda Premier League Week 5 encounter at Kigali Pele Stadium on Friday, October 24.
Striker Yves Habimana, who joined Rayon Sports this season, scored the decisive goal in the 48th minute.
The goal came after a defensive error from Amagaju FC players, whose clearance fell to Habimana, and he made no mistake, firing home to secure all three points for the Blues.
Amagaju played with 10 men for a long part of the match as Hamza Rwema was shown a red card in the 20th minute.
With the result, Rayon Sports climb to second place with 10 points, just two points behind leaders Police FC.
Amagaju FC remain in 14th place with four points.
Rayon Sports midfielder Richard Ndayishimiye was named Man of the Match.
Meanwhile, Gicumbi FC staged an impressive comeback to claim a 2-1 victory over Gasogi United, overturning a first-half deficit to secure the three points.
Gasogi’s Udo Kokoete Ibikok opened the scoring in the second minute, giving his side an early lead that lasted nearly an hour.
However, Clement Bitwayiki Bahati equalised for Gicumbi in the 57th minute, inspiring his teammates to push forward.
Their efforts paid off when Jean Pierre Rubuguza netted the winner in the 70th minute.
Ngono Herve Eloundou Ferdinand Guy of Gasogi United was named Man of the Match.
After five rounds, Justin Bisengimana’s Gicumbi FC now have seven points, while Gasogi United remain on six.
