Africa-Press – Rwanda. Huye Amputee football club player Jean Paul Ntambara is keen on finishing as top scorer following a run of good performances that saw him score 6 goals in four matches in Rwanda Amputee Football Championship.

Huye Amputee Football Club dominated the first phase of the Rwanda Amputee Football Championship after winning three games and drawing one in the matches. Ntambara has set his target high by promising to score more goals when the national league second phase kicks off on November 13.

“I have been in good form this season and I hope that we will continue when phase two resumes but my dream is to win the title and finish as top scorer,” Ntambara said.

Five teams took part in the Championship and they are: Musanze, Nyarugenge, Huye, Rubavu, and Nyamasheke Amputee football is a sport for disabled people with seven players on each team. Outfield players have lower extremity amputations, and goalkeepers have an upper extremity amputation.

Outfield players use lofstrand crutches and play without their prosthesis and players may have two hands but only one leg, whereas goalkeepers may have two feet but only one hand while players may not use crutches to advance, control, or block the ball.

The pitch measures a maximum of 70 x 60 meters. The dimensions of the goals are 2.2 metres maximum (height) x 5 metres maximum (width) x 1 metre (depth).
