Africa-Press – Rwanda. Police FC assistant coach Justin Bisengimana has said his side will derive positives from the Peace Cup semifinals first leg defeat to Gasogi and make a turnaround in the second leg and qualify to the final.
Akbar Muderi scored early in the first half to help Gasogi United beat Police FC 1-0 at the Kigali Pele Stadium on Tuesday, April 16 but Bisengimana insists that all is not lost as his men have one more chance to redeem themselves is the return leg scheduled on April 23.
“It’s normal in football to lose, we have to wait the for the second leg and go all out to qualify for the finals,” Bisengimana told the press in a post-match interview.
The Police FC deputy coach was also not happy with his defenders as he believes they gifted Akbar Muderi the goal on a silver platter.
“Gasogi won the game through our own mistake. Our defenders virtually presented a goal to them. We cannot continue to do such mistakes.”
Police FC was without Ugandan duo Derrick Ndahiro and Moses Sseruyidde who left the team’s camp for Kampala without the club’s authorization.
Asked about the issue, however, and Bisengimana refused to comment on it but with a feeling that the club will impose necessary sanctions against them.
“Derrick (Ndahiro)and Moses (Sseruyidde), they returned home in Uganda, they didn’t tell us. It’s a discipline case and I hope the secretary general will handle it,” he added.
Police FC have been in stumbling form since the start of 2024 and went from title rivals to fighting for mid-table positions. They will have to beat Gasogi to keep their hopes of winning the Peace Cup alive.
