Kepler and Rwanda Energy Group (REG) women’s basketball clubs will lock horns in the finals of the Rwanda women’s basketball league finals which commence on Wednesday, August 20 at Petit Stade.
Defending champions REG reached the finals after dominating The Hoops with a convincing 89-59 win on Friday to complete a clean sweep (3-0) in the best of five semi-finals.
They will face a crucial test from Kepler who secured their spot in the finals after defeating APR 3–1 in the semifinals series.
APR had beaten Kepler 77-71 in Game 3 on Friday but their hopes of set up a rematch in the finals against REG were ended by Kepler on Sunday after they beat them 72-47 in Game 4.
Kepler won the first quarter 16-15 and second quarter 13-3 to head into half-time leading 29-18.
Returning for the second half, Kepler continued leading the third quarter 16-13 and last quarter 27-16.
American Young Desi-Rae Yvonne scored a game high 23 points and made 15 rebounds to power the university-led club to the finals.
Game 1 of the finals is scheduled for Wednesday, August 20 while Game 2 will take place on Friday, August 22.
