Africa-Press – Rwanda. Kepler VC came back to sweep Rwanda Energy Group (REG) (25-22, 25-19, 25-21) at Petit Stade on Friday in Game 2 to tie the series 1-1 and force it to Game 3 which will decide the bronze winner on Saturday.
REG, who won Game 1, started the match hoping to secure their second game and clinch the bronze medal. However, coach Fidele Nyirimana’s Kepler resisted, taking the first set 25-22.
Nyirimana introduced a strong trio of receiving hitters Dusenge Wickliffe, Pacifique Iradukunda, and Romeo Ngabo Rwamuhizi, who propelled the team to claim the second and third sets 25-19 and 25-21, tying the best-of-three series 1-1.
In the women’s category, Rwanda Revenue Authority (RRA) secured Game 2 in the bronze medal battle with a tie-break victory over the league debutants Kepler women’s club, with set scores of (19-25, 19-25, 25-14, 25-15, 15-9). They have now tied the series 1-1 ahead of Game 3.
The teams will return to action on Saturday for Game 3 to decide the bronze medal winners.
