Africa-Press – Rwanda. World number one star rider Tadej Pogacar, the number 1 cyclist in the world arrived in Kigali on Thursday, September 18, ahead of the UCI Road Race Championships, scheduled for September 21-28.
The Tour de France 2025 winner is leading the Slovenian national team roster at the race global cycling event which is happening on African soil for the first time. Slovenia comprises nine riders expected compete in Kigali.
They will be staying at Kigali Delight Hotel throughout their stay in Kigali.
At 26, Pogačar recently won the Tour de France for the second time in a row, his fourth overall.
He is in Kigali to defend the men’s elite road race title he won at the 2024 Road World Championships in Zürich, Switzerland.
Apart from Pogačar, the other eight riders who make up the Slovenian National Team are Primož Roglič, Matej Mohorič, Domen Novak, Luka Mezgec, Matevž Govekar, Gal Glivar, Jaka Primožič, and Matic Žumer.
Pogačar will only compete two races in Kigali, on the first and last day.
