Africa-Press – Rwanda. Rwanda Defence Force (RDF)’s Fifth Infantry Division football team will play a friendly football match with Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF)’s Second Infantry Division on Saturday, 31 May 2025, at Kyamate Playground in Ntungamo Municipality, Ntungamo District, Uganda.
The event is part of the Proximity Commanders’ engagements between the two armies. It aims to strengthen the bonds between the two militaries as they seek closer cooperation in addressing regional and external security challenges, while also promoting unity among communities along the border.
The RDF delegation will be officially received in Uganda by Maj. Gen. Paul Muhanguzi, Commander of the UPDF Second Infantry Division, alongside other high-ranking military officials.
The game will be open to the public, serving as a demonstration of the relationship between the military and civilian populations.
In addition to the football match, the two armies, working in collaboration with local leaders, will participate in civil-military cooperation activities within Ntungamo Municipality. The activities include a route march through Ntungamo town, tree planting, and a blood donation drive.
