Africa-Press – Rwanda. The national football team, Amavubi, will be aiming for victory as it comes up against Algeria today, June 9, in the two teams’ second international friendly match.
Set to take place in Algiers, the Algerian capital at 9 PM(Kigali Time), the game comes four days after Rwanda lost the first encounter 2-0 on June 5, with goals from Youcef Belaili and Jaouen Hadjam ensuring the victory for the north Africans.
In the second fixture, coach Adel Amrouche’s side is determined to bounce back and avoid back-to-back defeats.
In a media interview, defender Claude Niyomugabo said the team is motivated and ready, as he pointed out that the friendly game is a good opportunity for them to show what they can do ahead of the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Benin and Nigeria.
“We will approach the match with the purpose of winning,” he noted.
The friendly game also offers Amrouche an opportunity to test new players, build team chemistry, and refine his tactics. Algeria is expected to field a squad of local players as part of their preparation for the 2025 CHAN tournament.
