Africa-Press – Rwanda. The Rwanda Premier League Board has announced that the 2024/25 end of season awards will be held at Kigali Convention Center of Friday, May 30.
The awards honour players and coaches who have been outstanding during the 2024/25 Rwanda Premier League season.
Addressing journalists on Thursday, May 15, league body Hadji Yusuf Mudaheranwa unveiled the awards whose categories have been reduced to seven, down from 13 in the previous season.
“We are glad to bring these awards back. We weren’t able to recognize players and coaches on a monthly basis like last season because the was sponsor pulled. The new sponsor came in the middle of the season and we realized it was not a good idea to bring the monthly award at the time,” Mudaheranwa said.
“We hope to bring the monthly awards back next season since we got a new awards sponsor,” he added.
Awards will be presented across various categories honoring player of the season, best coach, team of the season, best goal, young player of the season and the prestigious best 11.
Who will vote?
Voting for the Rwanda Premier League Awards 2025 will open on Friday, May 16, via www.rplawards.rw.
A designated panel of members of the media, representatives of the forum of coaches and those from the Former Amavubi Players Association (FAPA) will have a share of 50% of the total votes. The teams’ captains and coaches will have 30 per cent while fans’ votes will have 20 per cent of total votes.
The 2023/24 edition saw Rayon Sports skipper Kevin Muhire named player of the season.
