Africa-Press – Rwanda. The Rwanda Basketball federation (FERWABA) has confirmed Rwanda’s participation at the 2024 FIBA 3×3 Africa Cup due in Antananarivo, Madagascar, from November 29 to December 1
The development was confirmed to Times Sport on Wednesday, November 6, by federation Executive Director Fiona Ishimwe.
According to Ishimwe, Rwanda will be represented in both men and women categories.
National team head coach Moise Mutokambali will, in the next few days, announce an eight-player provisional squad for each category (men and women) to start training ahead of the showpiece.
Egypt (Men) and Kenya (Women) claimed gold medals at the FIBA 3×3 Africa Cup 2023 held in Cairo, Egypt.
Rwanda claimed bronze at the 2022 edition of the continental competition, also held in Cairo, Egypt, after beating Tunisia 21-17 in the third-place game.
It was the first medal the country has ever bagged in the FIBA 3×3 Africa Cup.
“3×3 basketball” is a variation of basketball played on a “three-a-side” basis, with one backboard and a half-court setup.
