Africa-Press – Rwanda. US-based Rwandan national Murenzi Kamatari is set to bring street basketball experience to Kigali from July 19-20.
Dubbed “Kigali Streetball 2025 (“KG str Ball”), the event aims at presenting the country’s street culture, combining sports, music, art, and dance.
Among the activities lined up during the event at Petit Stade Gymnasium, are3x3 Basketball Tournament, slam dunk contest, 3-Point Shootout, Main Stage Performances, dance competitions and graffiti Art Exhibition—a Live creation of murals by talented artists— as well as Skateboarding Demonstrations.
According to Murenzi, a former radio presenter at defunct Radio Contact FM who is organizing the event, Kigali Streetball will create a dynamic ecosystem where athletes, artists, and spectators can inspire and learn from one another.
It will feature various competing teams from across Kigali, whose selection tournament will take place at eight different basketball courts around Kigali. Each court will produce qualifying teams to represent their neighbourhood.
The event will also feature community engagement through local qualifying events while building anticipation and grassroots promotion.
