Africa-Press – Senegal. The kick-off of the traditional wrestling tournament with the flag of the Head of State was given on Friday at the Mawade Wade stadium under the chairmanship of Governor Alioune Badara Sambe, noted the Senegalese news agency.
Cultural events with the performance of the beacon of Saint-Louis and Serer singers marked this colorful ceremony, in the presence of the mayor Mansour Faye, the president of the National Committee for the management of the fight, Bira Sène and other sportsmen.
The president of the regional management committee, Makhou Mbengue, said he was satisfied with the start of the competition with the team category, noting that with the support of the mayor and the president of the National Assembly Amadou Mame Diop, the flag of the Head of State starts « with a closed budget ».
He expects the event to be a success, which will be marked on Saturday by the entry of individual wrestlers before the entry into play of the small category, the introduction of which constitutes this year’s innovation. In the background, the CNG is preparing for the Youth Olympic Games scheduled for Senegal in 2026.
