Police officer rescues 77-year-old man
The life and property of a 77-year-old man from Mont Buxton was saved yesterday morning by a group of police officers from central, who were on a routine patrol around 2:39 am in the district.
While the group of officers was on patrol, they smelled an abnormal smell, where it appeared that something was burning. This drew their attention to find the source of the smell. During their foot patrol they noticed heavy smoke coming from a house.
The officers immediately went to check and after several attempts they noticed a man sleeping in the house. They informed him of the situation and removed him from the house. The officers were able to establish on the spot that the fire had been left lit under a pan on a cooker that was starting to catch fire. They managed to bring the situation under control.
The Police Department commends the work of this group of officers who have reacted very quickly to prevent this situation from causing fatalities and also destroying other houses in the vicinity.
