Africa-Press – Seychelles. Minister for Transport, Ports and Civil Aviation, Veronique Laporte, continued her series of on-site visits to organisations under her ministry yesterday morning. She was accompanied by the principal secretary for Land Transport, Patrick Andre.
Their latest stop was the Seychelles Public Transport Corporation (SPTC) headquarters, where they were guided by chief executive Geffy Zialor, head of corporate affairs Alex Etienne and chairman of the board, Andy Moncherry.
The minister first arrived at the Victoria Bus Terminal where she had an emotional reunion with some staff who were there during her tenure as chief executive of the organisation. She also interacted with employees from all departments and even spoke to passengers at the terminal.
Minister Laporte chose to visit the next two locations via a designated SPTC bus in order to fully gauge the function of the vehicle. During her tour she stopped at the SPTC Ile Du Port bus depot. There, she held a two-hour discussion with a group of bus drivers who expressed their support towards her. The group presented a list of daily challenges, which the minister promised to look into. Her last stop was at the New Port depot, the major operational hub of SPTC, where she also had a meeting with the board.
