Africa-Press – Seychelles. The Seychelles National Museums have launched their educational programme for the year 2022.
As the National Museums comprise two museums, the programme proposed is for the Seychelles Natural History Museum and the National Museum of History.
“The aims of the programme are to value and respect the natural, historical and cultural heritage; to empower our participants to take positive action to conserve and preserve their heritage and to stimulate public awareness enabling them to learn more about the role and importance of museums,” noted Nicole Barreau, assistant curator.
The museum activities are organised during school holidays and on weekends depending on the events on the international calendar that are related to the museum.
The programme is designed to accommodate participants aged between 7 to 16 years old. It includes both indoor and outdoor activities such as art works, creative writing, educational games, and field trips.
Ms Barreau noted that due to the spread of Covid-19 in the community, it is not feasible to make a proper launching of the programme.
The museums cordially invite those interested to pay them a visit to find out more about the museum educational programme for 2022.
To recall, museum educational programmes have been run in Seychelles for over 30 years and over the years there has been tremendous work done by museum professionals to educate the youth and the local communities of Seychelles about the basic principles in conserving and preserving our heritage for the future generations.
