Africa-Press – Seychelles. In a bid to enhance the quality of life and well-being of the citizens of Seychelles, a delegation from the Ministry of Youth, Sports & Family embarked on an overseas working mission to Indonesia.
Principal secretary Clive Roucou, as head of delegation, was accompanied GyraNibourette, director general for Strategic Human Resource, and Beryl Naiken, director general for Quality of Life Division.
The primary aim of this mission was to gain insights into Indonesia’s structured holistic programs and services and explore ways to adapt and implement these best practices in Seychelles.
Indonesia has earned a reputation for its comprehensive and well-structured programs and services, catering to diverse target groups within its population, including youth, the elderly, individuals with disabilities and retirees.
The working mission comprised a series of high-level meetings with key officials in Indonesia. Among the notable meetings were discussions with the chief of the National Family Planning Coordinating Board of Indonesia (BKKBN) and the director of International Training for Family Welfare & Family Development. Additionally, the delegation met with various directors responsible for overseeing different programs and services aimed at improving the lives of Indonesian citizens.
One of the highlights of the mission was a series of site visits to various program centres in Indonesia. These visits provided valuable firsthand experiences and insights into how Indonesia operates its holistic programs. Some of the key centres visited included:
lElderly School Program: This program focuses on providing education and support services for the elderly population in Indonesia. The Seychellois delegation had the opportunity to witness the positive impact of such programs on the well-being of senior citizens.
lPrograms for Youth: Indonesia’s youth programs are designed to empower young people with the skills and resources they need to succeed in various aspects of life. The delegation explored these initiatives to learn how they could be adapted to benefit the youth of Seychelles.
lFamily Planning Association Centre: The family planning services offered in Indonesia have been instrumental in shaping the country’s demographic landscape. The Seychellois delegation sought to understand how such services could be applied to Seychelles’ context.
lFamily Income Generating Program: This program focuses on helping families improve their financial stability and independence. By visiting this centre, the delegation gained insights into strategies for economic empowerment.
lRole Model Village & Community in Jakarta: The role model village and community in Jakarta served as an excellent example of community development and engagement. The delegation explored the mechanisms that fostered unity and development within these communities.
This overseas mission to Indonesia would not have been possible without the collaboration and support of Nico Barito, the honorary consul for Seychelles in Indonesia. His involvement played a pivotal role in ensuring the success of the delegation’s working mission.
As Seychelles endeavours to enhance the quality of life for its citizens, this working mission to Indonesia has provided invaluable insights into the holistic programs and services that have contributed to Indonesia’s societal well-being.
The delegation’s experiences and newfound knowledge will undoubtedly pave the way for the development and implementation of similar initiatives in Seychelles, improving the lives of its people and fostering a brighter future.
