Dsti Launches Digital Regulatory Platform for Nursing

Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. DSTI is set to launch a groundbreaking Digital Regulatory Platform aimed at transforming how nursing and midwifery programs are managed and regulated in Sierra Leone.

The official unveiling will take place tomorrow, Monday, 14th July 2025, at the Lagoonda Complex in Freetown, from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM.

The Honourable Minister of Health is expected to grace the occasion and formally launch the system.

This innovative platform is designed to improve the regulation, licensing, and management of nursing and midwifery professionals who make up over 80% of the national health workforce. It aims to streamline administrative processes, enhance transparency, and support evidence-based decision-making in workforce planning.

Officials describe the platform as a transformative milestone in Sierra Leone’s journey toward digital health governance. By digitizing regulatory functions, the system will reduce bottlenecks, support continuous professional development tracking, and improve accountability across the sector.

According to DSTI, this initiative reflects the government’s broader commitment to leveraging technology for national development, especially in critical sectors such as health.
