Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. As I reflect on the state of politics in Sierra Leone, my heart aches. The phrase “Na We Time” has become a toxic mantra, poisoning our society with discriminatory practices, unqualified appointments, and stifled development. The consequences are dire, and the future looks bleak.

The “Na We Time” phenomenon has created a culture of fear and intimidation, silencing dissenting voices and punishing opponents with unfair treatment. Both the SLPP and APC have used this mentality to marginalise opponents, perpetuating a cycle of injustice.

Incompetence and corruption have taken hold in government institutions, exacerbating development challenges and leaving citizens impoverished. But I still have hope. I believe Sierra Leone can break free from “Na We Time” politics and forge a new path, prioritizing national development, meritocracy, and inclusivity.

We need leaders who put the nation’s needs above partisan interests. We need a government that promotes competence, efficiency, and professionalism. With the right leadership and commitment to national development, Sierra Leone can overcome its challenges and achieve a prosperous future for all citizens.

Let’s work together to build a nation where every citizen has access to quality education, healthcare, and economic opportunities. Let’s create a society where everyone can thrive, regardless of their background. The time for change is now. We must demand more from our leaders and hold them accountable. Together, we can build a brighter future for Sierra Leone, driven by the needs of the nation.

As the country’s next general elections draw nearer, our leaders must reject the ‘Na We Time’ mantra in our politics.
