Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. The funeral prayers (Janazah) and burial of the late Honourable Justice Dr. Abou Bhakarr Muhammad Binneh-Kamara, a Justice of the Court of Appeal, will be held on Sunday, July 20, 2025, at 2 PM.
The Janazah prayers will take place at the Hezbullah Mosque on Water Street, Congo Town, followed by burial at the Congo Town Cemetery. Sympathizers may pay their respects at the family residence on Water Street, Congo Town, Freetown.
Justice Binneh-Kamara, a prominent legal scholar and judge, passed away recently, leaving a profound impact on Sierra Leone’s judiciary and academia. He was the first Dean of the Faculty of Law at Fourah Bay College (FBC), University of Sierra Leone, a position he assumed in November 2023 when the faculty was established.
Before his elevation to the Court of Appeal, he served as a High Court Judge. His appointment to the appellate court was confirmed by Parliament on May 23, 2025, following his nomination by President Julius Maada Bio on April 30, 2025.
With a legal career spanning over 15 years, Justice Binneh-Kamara was widely respected for his contributions to judicial service and legal education. He previously lectured in the Department of Mass Communication at FBC, bridging law and media studies.
His sudden demise has been met with deep sorrow by colleagues in the judiciary, academia, and the wider legal community. Tributes continue to pour in, recognizing his role in shaping Sierra Leone’s legal system and mentoring future lawyers.
