Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. First Lady Fatima Maada Bio is proudly showing off her political prowess with claims that at least 425 delegates are on her side ahead of the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) 2028 flagbearer race.
The bold assertion was made during a party for SLPP diaspora members held at the Presidential Lodge.
“I have 425 delegates that nobody can move,” Fatima Bio stated, underscoring what she described as the unwavering loyalty of her supporters.
She further reinforced this unity, proclaiming, “Where Mammy Bio die, na dey we dey die” – a local idiom signifying absolute commitment. The First Lady suggested this solidarity, coupled with the backing of the United Nations, would ease upcoming political challenges.
The celebration, which followed the SLPP’s 14th National Delegates Conference, saw Mrs. Bio express her enthusiasm for their political strategy which reportedly produced a significant number of key positions in the party. Many of these newly elected executives have come out to credit the First Lady for their political success.
Although Fatima Bio has not formally declared any intention to run for the 2028 Presidential election, social media platforms have been abuzz with growing speculation about her possible flagbearership. If true, she will face stiff opposition from other potential flagbearers including Chief Minister David Moinina whom both are believed to be at loggerheads.
In her speech, Fatima Bio mentioned plans to rebrand the popular slang “stick to the plan,” to “move to the plan.”
“Stick to the plan,” is a slang often used by the political camp of Chief Minister David Moinina Sengeh who is also rumored to have an interest in the 2028 Presidential race. He has already founded a political group, the Radical Inclusion Movement, to support his potential candidacy.
“While you are sick to the plan, we are moving to the plan,” Fatima declared, highlighting a proactive approach to her political agenda.
