Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. The Sierra Leone senior women’s cricket team, known as the Ladies Patriots, is set to depart Freetown on Thursday, August 28, 2025, for Windhoek, Namibia, to participate in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Africa Division 1 Qualifier.

Sierra Leone has been drawn in Group A alongside Nigeria, Zimbabwe, and Namibia. The team will begin its campaign against Nigeria, followed by matches against Zimbabwe and the host nation. According to the tournament format, only the top two teams from each group will qualify for the semi-finals.

As part of their preparations, the Ladies Patriots recently played a test match against Sierra Leone’s national U-17 girls’ cricket team. Officials described the match as an opportunity to refine techniques and assess readiness for the qualifiers.

The tournament features eight participating nations: Sierra Leone, Nigeria, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Uganda, Rwanda, Kenya, and Tanzania. Teams are competing for advancement to the global ICC Women’s T20 World Cup qualification stage.
