Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. The Ministry of Technical and Higher Education has officially announced the availability of scholarship opportunities for Sierra Leonean students, offered by the Government of the Russian Federation for the 2026/2027 academic year.
The scholarships are open to suitably qualified nationals seeking to pursue Undergraduate (BSc), Master’s (MSc), or Doctorate (PhD) studies in Russia.
The announcement outlines a range of high-demand fields, including General Medicine, Software Engineering, International Relations, Public Health, and cutting-edge PhD programs in Machine Learning & AI.
Prospective applicants must adhere to strict eligibility criteria and a submission deadline of Wednesday, 26th November 2025.
According to the announcement, eligibility varies by level of study:
Bachelor’s Applicants must possess an original WASSCE statement of results from a single sitting, with grades no worse than C6 in five subjects, including English and Mathematics. The results must not be older than three years, and applicants must be 21 years or younger by September 2026.
Master’s Applicants are required to hold a Bachelor’s degree with at least an Upper Second Class (2:1) honour and be 35 years or younger.
PhD Applicants must hold both a relevant Bachelor’s (2:1 or better) and Master’s degree, and be 45 years or younger.
All applicants must submit a comprehensive package, including academic transcripts, a valid passport, passport-sized photos, reference letters, and a motivational letter or research proposal. A key requirement for all Bachelor’s applicants is the submission of their original WASSCE statement of results.
Completed application forms, which can be downloaded from a dedicated link provided by the Ministry, along with all supporting documents, must be submitted via email to [email protected] and as a hard copy delivered to the Ministry of Technical and Higher Education at the SABABU Building in New England Ville, Freetown.
The Ministry has emphasized that no application fee is required from any applicant. Inquiries can be directed to the Office of the Students’ Secretary at the Ministry.
