Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. The Court of Appeal has dismissed the appeal of convicted former politician Mohamed Kamarainba Mansaray and issued a warrant for his arrest after he and his legal counsel repeatedly failed to appear in court.
The ruling was delivered on Monday, November 10, 2025, by a panel of judges led by Hon. Justice A.M. Bangurah, a Justice of the Supreme Court sitting as a presiding judge in the Appeal Court.
The other justices on the panel were Hon. Mrs. Justice T. Barnett and Hon. Mr. Justice A.S. Allieu.
The court dismissed Mansaray’s appeal “for want of prosecution,” citing Rule 53 of the Court of Appeal Rules 1985. This decision was made due to the “persistent absence” of both Mansaray and his lawyer from court hearings, with no communication provided to the court to explain their non-attendance.
Following the dismissal, the court issued a bench warrant for the immediate arrest of Mansaray, who is a convict.
Additionally, the court affirmed that a previously issued bench warrant for the arrest of his surety, Aisha Mansaray, remains in force. A surety is a person who guarantees an accused person’s attendance in court.
The appeal, filed on March 15, 2023, was listed under case number CR.APP 1/2023 between Mohamed Kamarainba Mansaray (Appellant) and The State (Respondent). At the final hearing, only the respondent’s counsel, Y.I. Sesay Esq., was present in court.
