Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), in partnership with the Ministry of Youth Affairs (MOYA) and the National Youth Commission (NAYCOM), has participated in the validation of NAYCOM’s new Strategic Plan for 2026–2030.
The plan, themed “Partnership for Impact: A Strategic Framework for Empowering the Next Generation,” outlines a comprehensive five-year roadmap to expand opportunities for young people across Sierra Leone.
Anchored on five key pillars institutional development, employment, leadership and technology, partnerships, and health the plan seeks to strengthen systems, enhance youth-focused programmes, and promote sustainable empowerment nationwide.
During the workshop, the Commissioner emphasized the need to preserve the Commission’s legacy through unified and coordinated action. Minister of Youth Affairs, Hon. Ibrahim Sannoh, stressed that skills development is “a necessity for youth, not a luxury,” calling for sustained prioritization. He also referenced recent MoUs designed to reinforce youth empowerment initiatives across the country.
UNDP Youth Specialist Richard Musinguzi reaffirmed UNDP’s longstanding partnership with MOYA and NAYCOM, highlighting the importance of evidence-based investments aligned with the Youth Status Report. He reiterated UNDP’s commitment to co-creating impactful programmes that reflect national youth development priorities.
The event showcased strong collaboration between government, development partners, and youth stakeholders, celebrating collective progress in driving meaningful youth empowerment.
Through this partnership, UNDP continues to play a central role in shaping systems and strategies that will help Sierra Leone’s next generation thrive.
