Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. Makeni residents welcomed Africell Sierra Leone Chief Executive Officer Shadi Gerjawi during the company’s Afrimedia Tour 2025, where he outlined new investments aimed at improving telecommunications and digital services in the Northern Region.
Gerjawi, joined by Afrimoney CEO Martison Obeng-Agyei and other senior management members, highlighted plans to strengthen Africell’s network, introduce new customer-focused innovations, and contribute to community development projects.
As part of Africell’s 20th anniversary in Sierra Leone and 25th anniversary across Africa, the company is launching promotions such as the Jubilee Jumbo Promo, which will award prizes including a fully furnished house at TAF Micro City.
During the visit, Gerjawi announced several initiatives:
Citywide Fibre Network: A high-speed fibre optic project scheduled to begin by the end of August to improve connectivity.
Upgraded Telecommunications Services: Network enhancements designed to deliver more reliable voice and data coverage.
Afrimoney Expansion: Continued investment in the company’s digital financial services platform to expand financial access.
Community-Focused Development: A pledge to renovate Makeni’s iconic clock tower and support the construction of a memorial cemetery.
Gerjawi also emphasized Africell’s intention to maintain regular engagement with residents to gather feedback and align services with local needs. He noted that Makeni and the wider Northern Region remain key markets for Africell, underscoring the company’s plans for long-term infrastructure investment.
These initiatives are part of Africell’s broader strategy to modernize telecommunications services in Sierra Leone while maintaining close ties with the communities it serves.
