Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. The All Peoples Congress (APC) has raised alarm over the illegal printing of its old membership cards, following an incident at a local printing press on Upper Brook Street in Freetown.
According to a press statement released on 19th May 2025 and signed by the National Secretary General, Lansana Dumbuya Esq., a suspect was caught in possession of a freshly printed old APC membership card but fled the scene upon confrontation.
The manager of the printing press has since been invited for questioning, with investigations being led by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID).
The APC stated that some individuals, unable to manipulate the newly introduced membership verification system, have resorted to illegally reproducing old membership cards to cause confusion and disrupt the party’s internal processes.
The party emphasized that the old cards are now invalid and will not be accepted for voting or decision-making purposes, with only the newly issued ID cards recognized under the reformed system.
The statement noted that when the current National Secretary General assumed office, he was handed a verified database of existing members. Any attempt to fabricate old cards will not only be futile but will also lead to exclusion from party processes, as the details on fake cards will not match the official database.
In response to false accusations allegedly spread by certain individuals aiming to divert attention from the case, the APC clarified that it is not accusing anyone prematurely but is committed to due process. The party assured the public that it is cooperating fully with law enforcement to ensure that any persons involved in forgery or deception are held accountable.
According to APC press, to promote transparency, the APC will hold a press conference on Thursday, 22nd May 2025, to brief the public on developments. All members are encouraged to attend and verify their membership through official channels.
The APC reaffirmed its dedication to accountability, transparency, and unity amidst ongoing investigations.
