Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. The Chairman of the All People’s Congress (APC) Interim Transition and Governance Committee (ITGC), Alfred Peter Conteh, arrived in Sierra Leone earlier this week after spending over a year abroad.
Conteh received a warm welcome from enthusiastic APC supporters at both the Lungi Tagrin crossing and the Kissy Ferry Terminal in Freetown. Addressing the crowd, he expressed his gratitude for their continued dedication to the party’s revival.
“I thank each and every one of you for coming out here to welcome me,” Conteh said. “It gives me great joy to know that so many still believe in the APC and in democracy for our beloved Sierra Leone.”
He reaffirmed his commitment to working for the party and the people of Sierra Leone, stating that his return marks the continuation of that mission.
Following his brief address, Conteh proceeded to greet supporters gathered outside the Kissy Ferry Terminal. However, the event was disrupted by officers from the Operational Support Division (OSD), who dispersed the crowd and arrested several party members. The detainees were later released due to lack of evidence.
Conteh insisted that all those arrested be released before proceeding to his hotel, demonstrating his concern for the welfare of party members.
In the wake of the incident, Conteh urged supporters to remain peaceful and law-abiding. He called for unity within the party, encouraging members to embrace one another and stay focused, despite provocations and distractions from what he referred to as “non-visionary” elements within the APC.
