Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. All People’s Congress (APC) Member of Parliament for the Western Area Urban District, Honorable Osman Timbo, launched his bid for the party’s 2028 presidential nomination by highlighting significant internal divisions.
In a public address announcing his candidacy, Hon. Timbo focused on what he characterized as a pervasive “disunity and dishonesty” undermining the APC’s effectiveness. He argued that these internal issues are preventing the party from functioning as a strong opposition and a viable alternative government.
“This disunity and dishonesty has deeply affected our party,” Hon Timbo stated during his declaration. “It has undermined our ability to effectively operate as a responsible opposition party ready to take up governance and address the issues of our nation.”
Hon Timbo accused party members of prioritizing personal interests over the collective good, stating, “People in our party have prioritized their personal interests over the nation and the party, acting as if they own the APC.”
He further criticized the party’s current climate, describing it as fostering “abusive language, hypocrisy, and gossip.” He challenged party leaders to confront the “real issues” hindering unity, emphasizing that honesty and truthfulness are essential for progress.
Hon. Timbo’s announcement positions internal reform as a central theme of his campaign for the APC flagbearer nomination.
